What a Gearbox tune Is

A gearbox remap modifies the software inside the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) — the computer that manages how your gearbox shifts.
Just like an ECU remap optimizes engine performance, a TCU remap optimizes how the gearbox behaves.

What It Can Change

Depending on the vehicle and gearbox type (DSG, ZF, etc.), a remap can adjust things like:

• Shift points: Changes when the gearbox upshifts or downshifts, keeping the engine in its ideal power band.

• Shift speed: Reduces shift time for quicker, crisper gear changes.

• Torque limits: Raises or removes built-in torque caps that restrict power delivery, especially after an engine remap.

• Launch control behaviour: Optimizes clutch engagement and RPM limits for better launches.

• Kickdown and manual mode logic: Prevents unwanted auto-upshifts in manual mode and removes automatic kickdown.

• Clutch pressure and engagement: Improves clutch bite and durability under higher torque loads.
